The Formulation Scientist for Mikart, LLC is responsible for the development of new products, reformulation of existing products, and all activities included therein.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the successful planning and execution of project formulation development activities in order to meet customer needs.
  • Lead the design/evaluation of formulations and manufacturing processes for solid and liquid dosage forms.
  • Lead problem-solving and trouble-shooting activities (scientific, equipment, process) related to product development.
  • Responsible for the product development activities to create formulations made to compendial, customer and other appropriate specifications.
  • Responsible for the revision of existing formulas for necessary or desired changes.
  • Responsible for the preparation of product development protocols, reports and other CMC documents.
  • Responsible for the procurement of raw material information and samples as needed.
  • Lead the production of research and development pilot batches of new formulations as necessary.  Place new products on accelerated stability for preliminary stability determinations.  Establish finished product specifications based on data obtained from the R&D pilot batch.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of all formulation activities following good GMP practices.
  • Participate in training, qualification of equipment, and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Produce placebos of new formulations, as necessary, for use in analytical method development and validation.
  • Supports OE activities and contributes to the continuous improvement of the department.
Job Requirements:
  • A degree (B.S. M.S., Ph.D.) in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering or related field with 5-7 years of experience in product development.
  • Extensive experience in oral solid dosage and liquid formulations under GMP environments.
  • Prior experience in a fast pace work setting such as CMO and generic companies.
  • Strong writing and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
